Nico Santos has become one of the most successful and popular artists in the European Pop scene at record speed.

Nico Santos is back. Following the release of his self-titled Top 3 album, 17 gold and 20 platinum awards in six countries, numerous TV appearances, and contributions as the co-author of some hits of the greatest German pop stars, the singer, songwriter and producer releases his new single, „Weekend Lover“ on 10 June. And exceeds all expectations.

„I have never produced a song like this one,“ Nico says about the captivating foretaste of his third studio album due at the end of 2022. If the 2021 release of the up-tempo song „Would I Lie To You“ marked a new beginning at an emotional level, filled with love-drunk optimism, „Weekend Lover“ is characterised by an all-embracing lightness that has rarely been heard from Nico Santos. „Weekend Lover“ was not only created with the help of Santos‘ long-term companions Djorkaeff and Beatzarre but also in co-operation with the producer powerhouse Purple Disco Machine, who has attracted attention in recent years with his international hit single „Hypnotized“ as well as remixes for the likes of Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga. Bound by their love for French house and Seventies funk, the two of them harmonise in „Weekend Lover“, in particular in their way of drawing inspiration from anywhere without confining themselves to a specific genre. Here, Nile Rodgers guitars meet with Daft Punk bass lines and manually added drums, cowbells and trumpets, all with the smoothness of a Bruno Mars. „It was extremely important to me that the song sounds the same live as it does on record,“ says Nico.

I wonder if „Weekend Lover“ might be indicative of future sounds. „I want the upcoming album to be daring, above all,“ says Nico. „Daring to reveal new worlds and explore new genres, while being super personal and really, really authentic.“ After everything Nico Santos has achieved, the superstar embarks on a new beginning, a promising new departure – an adventure awaits.
