BTA's Virtual Machine (VM) Hosting service allowing clients to run custom 'server' applications and services without the cost and overhead of implementing physical servers and infrastructure within a datacentre. Whether it's centralising internal business IT systems or complex web and database services, virtualisation allows clients to build flexible hosted infrastructure and add to it and make changes on the fly without long-term expenditure or commitment.
Virtualisation allows a single physical server to make optimum use of its resources, notably CPU capacity, to run multiple 'virtual servers' simultaneously. Many single servers spend much of their time idle or with very low workloads and virtualisation allows you to save both cost and resource by ensuring those servers are best utilised.
YOUR OWN SERVER, WITHOUT THE SERVER
BTA Virtual Machine (VM) Hosting, powered by Citrix XenServer Enterprise, provides your own dedicated "server" and operating system installation running on our redundant hardware platform. Your "server" runs and acts like a real server and can run the operating system (either Windows or Linux), application software or custom configuration you need and can be provided with the connectivity required to allow access for your users or web site visitors.
Unlike simple "shared" or "virtual hosting" solutions, VM hosting provides a completely separate OS environment in which you can run your own applications and services just as if you had a real, physical server. You can log in to your VM and install software and configure services just as if it was your own real server.

Clients can choose to run the operating system of their choice on their virtual machines, including Windows Server 2008 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, with either simple per-month OS licensing costs or clients can provide their own licensing. In addition, CentOS 5.x is available as a no-cost alternative.
