* Important note: all 'Max' services are provided 'rate adaptive' and will operate at the best stable speed your telephone line allows. Actual speeds are affected by line length, quality and peak Internet usage periods. The phrase 'up to' is used to indicate that your actual maximum speed will fall somewhere in the range between the minimum and the maximum due to the adaptive nature of the service, not that your download speed will reach the given maximum. Your download speed may vary at peak times. Download speeds may range from 160Kbps to 7150Kbps depending on line conditions. BT Wholesale estimates that 78% of customers will achieve download speeds of 4Mbps and above. Fluctuation in line speed is expected to occur within the first 10 days of service whilst your line speed adapts to the maximum it can reliably support. It is also likely that download speeds no greater than 2Mbps will be achieved at peak usage times.
** Line activation charge applies to all new lines. Migration of an existing equivalent line from another ISP to BTA is free of charge.
For 'Office' and 'Home' services the end-user must provision suitable equipment (e.g. a line splitter and a suitable ADSL modem/router/firewall) to attach their computer or network to their telephone line. If the end-user provides their own equipment then the equipment and its installation and/or configuration is NOT provided as part of the service itself, although it may be provisioned separately by BTA on request for a suitable charge. For 'Engineered Symmetric' services, a basic managed router is included as part of the service but remains the property of BTA Limited at all times.
BTA Business Broadband services do not include domain name, multiple-user email options, or web hosting options. Please refer to our Business Hosting Pack for details. A single POP mailbox is included with broadband services for contact purposes if required.
Billing must be to a business name and address either annually-in-advance (any service) or monthly by Direct Debit (not individual 'Home' services). Home services are only available to home-based workers and the billing of these services must be to the central business address. BTA Broadband services are not available to the residential public.
Service availability and performance is not guaranteed, thus broadband services are not suitable for end users who require a guaranteed response to service faults or disruptions, or continuous bit-rate or full-bandwidth services. BROADBAND SERVICES ARE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR BUSINESS CRITICAL PURPOSES. BTA 'Office' and 'Home' broadband services are provided on a shared and contended basis—bandwidth is shared between service users and speeds may fluctuate at busy times&mdash.
Broadband service is subject to provider availability at the local telephone exchange and is installed subject to BT line survey. All services require the presence and continued operation and rental of a standard BT PSTN telephone line, the provision and charges for which are the responsibility of the end-user.
Office Max and Home Max pricing is for 'wires-only' service; any required hardware (e.g. router) is not included. For a basic-level managed router please add £5/month. Please enquire for details on other available hardware options or fully-managed services. For Broadband Enhanced Care please add £15/month.
Broadband usage is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and, as a 'shared-bandwidth' service, is also subject to a 'fair usage' policy which is intended to protect the service for the benefit of all users. Our fair usage policy is simple: end-users on 'Office' or 'Home' services who download more than approximately 50GB per month may be rate-reduced (throughput) or be asked to reduce their download usage. In extreme cases we reserve the right to charge additional per-gigabyte fees for continual excessive usage. As only a tiny percentage of our users ever download this amount of data, we consider this a fair and balanced approach to the issue of shared bandwidth usage. Users requiring high-volume or dedicated bandwidth are advised to consider a more suitable service such as 'Engineered Symmetric' (uncontended) or leased line solutions.
